complication that is known as
diabetic retinopathy? Doctors tell
us diabetic retinopathy generally
has no early warning signs and
may appear unexpectedly.
Occasionally, the person affected
will suffer with blurred vision,
which deteriorates or improve
over the course of the day.
Retinopathy is medical term
describing serious damage to the
tiny blood vessels or capillaries
that nourish the retina for good
eye health. Your retina is located
at the back of your eye so it is
able to captures light then relays
the information back to your brain.
These tiny blood vessels are
adversely affected by high levels
of blood sugar associated with
diabetes. Sadly, in severe cases,
blood vessels can even bleed
which causes haemorrhage
leading to blurred vision and
problems with sight. Small specks
of blood can be floating in the
affected diabetic's vision field
which may disappear. However,
this can be followed by even
more blood leaking and
haemorrhage. The problem may
clear itself or may affect your
vision for days and months.
Doctors may be required to treat
or medically control your
diabetes to help reduce the
serious impact on your sight.
